The shadows of my soul reveal the light of my spirit.

LADY’S OFFERING

I will string a necklace on the crow.

It will be beautiful.  He will show it off

as it pulses above his heart framed by

black feathers:

white beads

long teeth

sharpened claws

spaced lovingly

endless knots

graceful, just long enough to poke the living skin

at each heart beat

sharp enough to prick complacency

etched with a future eulogy

upon bead after bead

tooth after tooth of course

one long claw after another.

Beads, teeth and claws to chant upon

when darkness leaves no further choice but to rub against ghosts:

“Here calls the soul of the solitary”.
